Intersect + No Witness Labs: Evolution SDK Enters Incubation

We’re excited to announce a significant milestone for Intersect’s Incubation Program. The Evolution SDK from No Witness Labs has officially entered incubation, marking the first project to do so after review by both the Open Source Committee (OSC) and the Technical Steering Committee (TSC).
This marks a significant step in strengthening Cardano’s open-source foundations and enhancing the developer experience across the ecosystem.
Introducing Evolution SDK
Building decentralized applications (DApps) on Cardano has often required developers to navigate fragmented tools, complex transaction construction, and scaling challenges. Evolution SDK, created by No Witness Labs, changes that by offering a TypeScript-first, modular framework designed to make DApp development faster, easier, and more reliable.
It provides a scalable transaction builder, seamless wallet integrations, and multi-provider support, giving developers the flexibility to build high-quality, production-ready DApps without needing to reinvent the basics each time.
By incubating the Evolution SDK, Intersect ensures this critical infrastructure grows within a vendor-neutral, community-driven environment, helping developers focus on innovation rather than infrastructure. Visit our Evolution SDK FAQ for more information.
Why it matters
Evolution SDK directly addresses one of Cardano’s most significant pain points: developer experience. It is already being adopted across multiple projects and provides a single, unified toolkit for building on the Cardano blockchain.
The SDK’s design emphasizes flexibility, interoperability, and safety, supporting multiple data providers, including Maestro, Blockfrost, and Koios, while working seamlessly across mainnet, test networks, and custom environments. Its TypeScript foundation also makes onboarding easier for developers coming from other ecosystems.
Supported by open-source governance
As part of Intersect’s Incubation Program, Evolution SDK will be nurtured under the organization’s open-source governance framework. This ensures that development remains transparent, community-owned, and aligned with Cardano’s long-term sustainability.
The program connects projects, such as Evolution SDK, with Intersect’s Open Source and Technical Steering Committees, ecosystem partners, and mentoring resources to help guide projects from early incubation through to maturity.
The road ahead
In the months ahead, the Evolution SDK team will focus on delivering a robust transaction builder and UTXO selection tools, expanding multi-provider support, integrating wallet and smart contract capabilities, and exploring Hydra-based scaling.
The long-term vision is to establish the Evolution SDK as a foundational layer in Cardano’s developer ecosystem, simplifying onboarding, strengthening interoperability, and accelerating innovation across the network.
With Evolution SDK leading the way, Intersect’s Incubation Program will continue to nurture open-source projects that reinforce Cardano’s infrastructure and empower developers worldwide.
Developers can explore or contribute to Evolution SDK via its GitHub repository or support the maintainers through GitHub Sponsors.
About the initiative, Christian Taylor, Head of the Open Source Office and Incubation, Intersect, has this to say:
“After a year and a half of development on this incubation process, bringing Evolution SDK as the first project into incubation isn’t just a project win; it’s a mission moment for Intersect. We’re here to serve the Cardano community as a true member-based organization, with our open-source efforts a key pillar in our coordination role, similar to the way the Linux Foundation serves its ecosystems: neutral, accountable, and focused on the long haul. Our goal is to simplify the process of building on Cardano and to maintain that work as a community-owned effort. Incubation is how we do it, helping great ideas grow into mature, reliable infrastructure that everyone can trust.”
Jonathan Rodriguez, Cofounder of No.Witness Labs concurred with Christian, he said:
“By bringing Evolution SDK under Intersect’s stewardship, we’re giving Cardano developers a durable, neutral home for a tool they will be able to rely on while keeping the same team building it and planning the roadmap. As part of Intersect’s incubation program, Evolution SDK will receive structured support from open-source professionals, technical validation of quality, visibility, and assurance of longevity.
We are happy and proud No.Witness Labs seized this opportunity while remaining the primary maintainer, with a focus on quality. Together, we’re committing to a simple promise: Evolution SDK will be better than it is today.”
Building for the Future
Evolution SDK’s entry into incubation represents more than the growth of a single project. It reflects the strength of Cardano’s developer community and the shared commitment to open collaboration that defines Intersect’s mission.
As the incubation program expands, more projects will follow this path, building the foundations of a thriving, sustainable, and community-led open-source ecosystem.
It’s still early days for the incubation program, but if you’re interested, you can follow this page as all future projects joining the program will be present here.
